do you find that people gain weight when their significant other refuses to talk to them?
It is entirely possible for someone to gain weight if they’re having relationship problems. Why? Because, in my opinion, the reason why most people gain weight is because they’re trying to “medicate” their personal “issues” with food.
In my view, this is no different from a drug addict that’s trying to “escape” his/her “reality” by using drugs. I mean, no one wakes up one day and suddenly decide that they want to start using drugs; there’s usually a root cause.
Similarly, no one suddenly becomes fat over night. Another way to think about it is that, your weight gain is simply a physical manifestation of things that are going on in your life. That “thing” could range from you not being content with your job, for example, to having family or relationship problems.
If you would like to slow down the weight gain and/or lose the unwanted additional pounds that you might have gained during your personal crisis (your significant other refusing to talk to you), you have to deal with the root of the problem. Otherwise, you will continue to “suppress” your “hunger” with food, which would subsequently result in more weight gain. Does that make sense?
Dear Patrick,
First of all, nice and glad to know you. I had a question regarding my current injury. Since I had a runner’s knee a week ago, I am resting from my cardio. I use to jog every day in the morning. Since then, I am clueless on how to keep burning effectively as jogging since I dont have any bicycle or swimming pool to swim. Could you suggest any home fat burning circuit for me to do and at the same time recovering my knee?Thank you.
Umar, thank you for your question. I’m sorry to hear that you recently developed runne’s knee. If it’s any consolation, I can definitely relate to your “pain.” You see, a few years ago I hurt my right knee while playing basketball and it’s never been the same since then. Fortunately, it’s gotten alot better and I’m still able to exercise regularly.
So, my first piece of advice would be to definitely listen to your doctor’s suggestions and take the much needed rest required for you to fully recuperate. In the shortrun, it might seem tough and you might grow impatient (I’ve been there) because it sounds like you enjoy running, but in the longrun your knees will thank you that you took the time off to rest. :-)
Before I recommend some fat-burning exercises that you can do while you recover from your knee issue, I found you a resource that I think would a great help to you in terms of helping you better understand sport-related injuries (especially knee injuries) and how to properly treat such injuries so that you can heal faster. Don’t worry, it’s a short booklet, easy to read, and I promise that it won’t bore you to tears. :-) Here are some of the things it covers:
What Are Sports Injuries? ………………………………………. 4
What’s the Difference Between Acute
and Chronic Injuries? ……………………………………….. 11
What Should I Do if I Suffer an Injury? ………………….. 12
Who Should I See for My Injury? …………………………….15
How Are Sports Injuries Treated? …………………………… 16
And, much more…
I can’t begin to tell you how much this little booklet has helped me better take care of my knees. If you’re interested in getting a FREE copy, click here to download a FREE copy. Let me know how you like it.
Fat Burning Circuit Training Exercises That You Can Do At Home…
Umar, since I don’t know the extent of your knee injury and I don’t know your fitness level, I’m going to suggest some basic exercise routines that doesn’t involve your lower body so that your knees are not compromised further. Of course, always consult with your physician before engaging in any new exercise program.
So, here we go…
A great way to burn calories is to perform complex exercises that target the entire body instead of simply isolating a body part. The question becomes how do you accomplish this at home?
Good question.
The perfect aide that would help you work your entire body without putting any undue pressure on your knees is a physioball. This is because, a physioball will force your to maintain proper posture while performing your exercises because your core muscles will be engaged the entire time. Here are some exercises you can do with a physioball:
1) Push-ups with both palms on the ball. Or, a more challenging version would be to place both your feet on the physioball while you attempt to do a push-up from the floor–this exercise will target your upper body area specifically your chest area.
2) Seated bicep curls–this exercise will your arms
3) Seated shoulder presses–this exercise will take your abs
4) Crunches–this exercise will work on your abs.
Now, you can combine the above exercises into a fat-burning routine and intensify your workout by doing each exercise right after the other without any rest between exercises. Depending on your goal, 8-12 repetition per exercise should be sufficient; the key is to keep moving. Physioballs are not that costly, and you can get one from your local sports store.
If that’s not possible, you can perform the same exercises above using a stable chair. By the way, I’m assuming that you have some weights that you can use at home.
Umar, I hope that you found this information useful. Again, thank you for your question and I’m glad to have been of some service to you.
Good luck, and please keep me posted on your progress.
sincerely, Patrick
