Jenny, thank you for your question! By the way, this response is for educational purposes only and you should ALWAYS consult with your physician before starting any new exercise program. Plus, make sure that you read every word in this response for it to makes sense to you.

Also, because I know very little about your "situation", I can only give you a general response to your question.

Having said that, in the general, the principles and concepts for getting "perfect abs" is the same for everyone regardless of your gender and age. In other words, for you to be able to get a six-pack, you MUST design a workout plan that include (1) Resistance training (lifting weights), (2) Cardiovascular training (such as, running), and (3) Proper Nutrition.

You need resistance training because, without it, you won't be able to build muscle which is responsible for improving what's known as your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR). Basically, the higher your RMR, the more calories you would be able to burn throughout the day even while you sleep--very cool!

The key though is to make sure that your resistance training program specifically addresses your personal goal, which in your case it seems like you would like to probably lose weight and or burn fat and do it fast. For example, you want to be utilizing a specific type of training program known as "Circuit Training", which means that you're performing one exercise after the other with little or no rest between exercise(s).

As a side note, if you design your circuit training program correctly, you won't really have to do alot of running per se in order to burn fat rapidly and position youself to getting a six pack.

Also, given your age, you want to be doing what's known as multi-joint exercises (such as squats, bent over rows, and so on) that works multiple muscle groups at the same time. Doing so would enable you to burn more calories in less time, which is one of the secrets to losing weight and burning fat fast.

Because your body is still developing, you want to focus on performing higher repetitions per exercise instead of trying to lift heavier weights if you would like to achieve maximum results. And, you only really need to lift weights about 2 times per week to see results.

The other part of the equation, which is cardio, is needed because you won't be able to get totally toned and get rid of the layer of fat around your stomach and covering your six pack without it. The more cardio you do (running, cycling, aerobics), the better but don't over do it.

Now, the last part of the equation, which is your nutrition, is CRITICALLY important. If you do everything else right in terms of your resistance training and cardio, but you have poor eating habits or you are not eating foods that will help you burn fat, you will NEVER get a perfect body with abs. It's that simple. Click here if you would like to learn more about foods that will help you burn belly fat.

I know that this is alot of information, but given the limited info that I have about you, I tried to give you a basic understanding of what you need in order to achieve a perfect body with abs. Hopefully this helps. Good luck!
