I was in pretty good shape most of my life … was always active, used to teach aerobics, trained horses, etc. But then after a difficult divorce, selling my home (where I was always very physically active working
with my horses), and moving to a small apartment quite a ways from town, I ballooned up to 196# pounds in a year or so, hiding my emotional stress in food!
When my daughter announced that she would be getting married in June of 09 I decided that I was going to be in shape for all those wedding photos that last forever! I hired a personal trainer in Nov of 08 and began working out religiously. While I definitely toned a lot, I was disappointed that the scale only moved about 5# between November and March. (Yea, well, throw all the Christmas goodies in there… yum!)
Finally in late March my trainer convinced me to get the BodyBugg and really start looking at my eating side of the equation as well as the workout side. Wow! Between March 22 and the wedding June 6 I lost about 25 pounds!
The BodyBugg helped me to see exactly how many calories I was burning each day and I had to input into the computer program, exactly how many calories I ate each day. It was like having a calculator helping me see exactly what went in and where it went if I didn’t burn it off!
I learned to make smarter choices in the types of food I put in my mouth and it helped me learn which exercises burned the most calories. (Jogging burned twice the calories per hour than anything else I was doing, so I’ve become a dedicated jogger!)
It truly was amazing to learn these details and how they affected my life.
Now, having continued to be actively losing and getting myself into better shape than I’ve been in twenty years, I am down a total of 40# (I’m 156#). By the way, I’m 5’9″ and 54 years old.
What a great “come back” weight loss story. Good job Mary Jo Fay!
